I recently got a HP Compaq 6510b from my new job. Double clicking the sound system tray icon to adjust volume, I crashed the explorer shell. Not to say that I caused it to crash, but rather a common code execution path.
After the crash, Windows helpfully comes back tell me to install KB941649 to resolve the issue. I was amazed that such a significant update in stability and battery usage wasn’t installed on the laptop before it was shipped to me. Although the update has only been out for less then a month to begin with, which is also amazing.
So far I’m trying to keep an open eye with Windows Vista, but this is another strike against it.
